Syringa are deciduous shrubs which have lovely spires of small tubular fragrant flowers set against bright green foliage. This lilac has heart shaped leaves when young, and masses of very fragrant long double rose-lilac, white centred flowers in late spring and early summer. This plant can be pruned to take the shape of a tree.
