
Mike Stentiford, MBE
Mike, originally from Exeter in Devon, has been an enthusiast of Jersey’s natural environment since his arrival in the island in the mid 1950s.
From 1975-1980, he ran Jersey’s Young Ornithologists Club after which Mike became group leader of the Jersey Branch of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and in 1991 received the RSPB Presidents Award.
He is currently President of the National Trust for Jersey.
Mike became the Countryside Education/Interpretation Officer with the States of Jersey in 1992, a position he held until retirement in 2000.
He is the author of 3 books, an autobiography ‘Blame the Badger’ and The Birdwatchers Jersey 1 and 2, he also writes a weekly nature article in the Jersey Evening Post.
Mike received his MBE in the Queen’s New Year honours list in 2000.
